A place kept secret
The city of Montreal hides its collection far from sight, in the ancient complex Dow, active between 1790 to 1967. There in an ensemble of cultural heritage is preserved the archaeological municipal collection. This site is not open to the public like a Museum. It is a place of safekeeping for the collections, it can be visited with an appointment. But it is impossible to receive guests every day, the Reserve is not static and its collections shine through many Museums and universities expositions that borrow artefacts for study and analysis. Thus, the artefacts travel throughout the province and across the different Museums of the country so that thousands can marvel upon them!
